The Philosophy of Village Kids
There are four seasons in life - all are ‘Special’…
At Village Kids Childrens Centres we are all life long learners!
Within our community we are committed to striving to create a love of living and learning and to provide a warm, inviting, safe and peaceful environment:
Ø That is ACTIVE - where children, families, and staff can be confident, competent, creative and compassionate in their living and learning… to explore, investigate, experiment, think and communicate in a challenging and empowering atmosphere that values and encourages all contributions
Ø That is RELEVANT - where rights and choices are respected and accepted – the right to choose and the right to be… to build on children’s experiences, ideas, interests and cultural backgrounds
Ø THAT IS PLANNED and FOCUSES ON THE WHOLE CHILD – where ongoing and coordinated observation is documented, shared and individual… to cater for each child’s developmental needs, wellbeing and physical growth and for our early childhood team to acquire an understanding of children’s development through careful study and purposeful interaction
Ø That is CHILD CENTRED – where each child is encouraged and empowered to contribute ideas and evaluations… to focus on the learning styles of each child and work together with children in all knowledge areas to jointly construct understandings so as to gradually hand over responsibility for learning tasks as the child gains understanding and confidence
Ø That is CONSISTENT - where there is companionship, support, trust and a commitment to building connections and maintaining reciprocal and respectful relationships… promoting partnerships of family and community oriented learning and values continued participation of parents
Ø That is a FOUNDATION - where there is time for each child and adult to progress, appreciate, relax and grow… for future education and those values that promote cooperative human endeavour to be encouraged, nurtured and empowered
“At Village Kids – we share, care and dare to be…”
In addition to ensuring that the children and families receive a service that exceeds expectations of care and development, we at Village Kids, strive to build, maintain and strengthen the links between children and the seniors in our community. It is our belief that these links can assist in both developing the child and helping us value our seniors, who have so much still to contribute.
